This is an exciting opportunity to shape how a global industry responds to sustainability, regulation, and responsible business.

WFSGI is seeking a highly motivated, ambitious ESG professional ready to step up into a visible, high-impact role. This position is ideal for someone who wants to accelerate their career, take ownership, and build a strong reputation in ESG on a global stage.

You will work directly with WFSGI’s COO and leading global brands to turn ESG strategy into tangible outcomes, supporting members with regulatory challenges, enabling practical tools, and strengthening the industry’s voice in global policy discussions.

We are particularly interested in candidates who are immediately available and eager to make a difference from day one.

About WFSGI

The World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) is the global, not-for-profit representative body for the sporting goods industry.

With over 150 members, including adidas, ASICS, Decathlon, NIKE, PUMA, and Shimano, WFSGI represents approximately 70% of the global industry turnover.

WFSGI is recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and holds official relations with the World Health Organisation (WHO). Our mission is to unite and represent the global sporting goods industry to enable business growth, and a healthier, more active planet for all.

Your Mission

You will be responsible for delivering WFSGI’s ESG strategy across three core pillars as a single contributor (covering environmental and social aspects):

1. Responsible Conduct & Industry Positioning

Support rollout of revised WFSGI Code of Conduct and guidance

Position WFSGI as a credible global reference for responsible business

Represent WFSGI in key ESG forums and platforms

2. Tools & Member Enablement

Develop and launch ESG Regulation Tracker and ESG Tool Navigator

Provide practical guidance and support to members

Deliver webinars, insights, and engagement initiatives

3. Advocacy & Policy Influence (in cooperation with WFSGI’s Global Head of Public Affairs and Advocacy)

Identify and prioritise ESG policy issues

Support development of advocacy positions

Enable a coordinated and unified industry voice

Key Responsibilities 

• Deliver ESG strategy and ensure execution against defined KPIs and timelines

• Monitor and analyse ESG regulatory developments globally

• Translate complex policy into clear, actionable insights for members

• Build strong relationships with member companies and stakeholders

• Support advocacy initiatives and stakeholder engagement

• Coordinate internal and external ESG workstreams

• Represent WFSGI at events, working groups, and forums

• Contribute to development of tools, reports, and communications materials

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• Degree in sustainability, environmental science, international relations, law, or a related field

• Professional experience in ESG, sustainability, public policy, or a related area

• Strong understanding of global ESG trends, frameworks, and regulatory landscape

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex information into clear insights

• Highly motivated, proactive, and able to work independently

• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver at pace

• Team-oriented with strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills

• Willingness to travel internationally

Desirable:

• Experience working with trade associations, international organisations, or industry groups

• Knowledge of the sporting goods industry or related sectors

• Existing network within ESG policy or sustainability communities

• Additional languages, particularly from key sourcing markets

• Data and digital competency

• Based in UK or Germany

• Immediate availability
