Job Description Summary:

PayPal’s ESG team partners across the organization to design programs to support and drive the disclosure of non-financial ESG risks and opportunities and regularly engages with internal and external stakeholders globally to advance this important work. The team’s efforts are aligned with PayPal’s mission, vision, and values and directly contribute to ensuring the company cultivates an inclusive culture and remains a responsible corporate citizen. The ESG Team is part of PayPal’s Legal department and works closely with dozens of functions across the organization, including Finance, Corporate Affairs, Risk and Compliance, Human Resources, and Sourcing.

As a Director on our ESG team, you will lead PayPal’s non-financial ESG reporting, including our annual Global Impact Report, to meet evolving ESG regulatory and disclosure obligations and communicate positive impact and long-term business success to our stakeholders. You will oversee our third-party rating, ranking, and recognition surveys and drive continual improvement of ESG data management processes and systems. You will also contribute to the development and execution of our ESG strategy, including assessment of appropriate ESG metrics, standards and frameworks, and engage with internal and external stakeholders to advise on ESG risks and opportunities. This position will report to the Vice President, Corporate Legal.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

Drive PayPal’s enterprise approach to ESG measurement, evaluation, goal setting and reporting to demonstrate the impact of our business on the communities we serve.
Lead the development and publication of PayPal’s annual Global Impact Report and associated materials and coordinate the integration of non-financial metrics and information into other PayPal disclosures as mandated.
Evaluate and support PayPal’s enterprise-wide efforts to ensure compliance with evolving non-financial ESG regulatory and disclosure obligations and reporting standards, frameworks and regulations, both in the U.S. and internationally (e.g., EU CSRD).
Coordinate and help lead PayPal’s cross-functional ESG governance bodies and serve as a trusted partner to internal PayPal teams to deliver results and promote collaboration to drive positive impact on activities related to priority ESG topics, including financial health and inclusion, cybersecurity, data privacy, diversity and inclusion and climate change mitigation.
Identify and implement ongoing improvements to PayPal’s enterprise ESG data platform and disclosure process, including enhancements to internal controls and external assurance activities.
Monitor and benchmark PayPal’s ESG disclosures relative to peer progress and investor and other stakeholder expectations, and identify, recommend, and implement enhancements.
Lead enterprise-wide responses to, and assess engagement with, third-party ESG ranking and recognition organizations and rating agencies and identify and drive internal enhancement opportunities across the organization to improve future submissions.
Support internal business partners such as Investor Relations, Government and Regulatory Relations, and Risk and Compliance with ESG-related stakeholder engagement needs.
Support ongoing integration of ESG risks into our enterprise risk and compliance program and global risk management efforts in respect of current and future regulatory compliance obligations.
Represent PayPal with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., NGOs, corporate peers, global conveners, institutional investors) at meetings, conferences, and events to further support PayPal’s brand and reputation.
Job Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications (Requirements):

Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental, social, or governance issues, corporate sustainability, or related field.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience producing corporate ESG reports and disclosures.
Experience in ESG measurement, goal setting, and performance evaluation and familiarity with data management best practices.
Experience engaging internal and external stakeholders on complex and nuanced issues.
Demonstrated understanding of the landscape and trends in corporate ESG reporting and key stakeholders in the industry.
Applied experience with widely-used ESG frameworks and standards (e.g., GRI, ISSB, SASB, TCFD, UNGC) and rating organizations (e.g., MSCI, Sustainalytics, CDP, S&P).
Familiarity with current and emerging ESG regulations and standards from regulatory agencies across key global markets, including U.S., Europe, U.K., Singapore, Australia and India.
Experience managing budgets and contracts.
Team-oriented individual that drives measurable outcomes without direct authority across all organizational levels.
Strong organizational and time management skills – ability to successfully prioritize competing projects/deadlines to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently, under limited direction, and collaborate remotely using virtual work platforms.
Excellent analytical skills, including proficiency in Excel and comfort working with large, complex data sets.
Excellent written and verbal communicator, with strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in related field.
Experience working with international teams and designing appropriate governance structures.
Experience developing internal data controls and governance processes as well as working with external assurance providers.
Understanding of corporate enterprise risk management practices.
