Job Description

Reporting to the COO, the Sustainability and Environmental Director will support the development and implementation of the company’s sustainability and environmental strategies.

This role involves overseeing initiatives that reduce environmental impact, enhance resource efficiency, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. The Director will work collaboratively across departments to embed sustainability into the company’s culture and operations, aiming to achieve long-term environmental goals and sustainability targets.

Implement the company’s sustainability and environmental strategy.
Work on long-term sustainability goals and create action plans to achieve them.
Monitor and report on the progress of sustainability initiatives and adjust strategies as needed.
Program Management for CSRD project and any other certification / audit processes
Lead sustainability programs focused on energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation, and carbon footprint reduction.
Manage projects related to renewable energy, sustainable sourcing, and green building practices.
Ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
Communicate sustainability goals and progress to employees, customers, and shareholders.
Prepare and present sustainability reports for internal and external audiences.
Stay informed about new sustainability trends, technologies, and regulations.
Provide training and resources to staff to support sustainability initiatives.
Advocate for sustainability practices and policies at local, regional, and national levels.
Identify and mitigate environmental risks associated with the company’s operations.

The Successful Applicant

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in sustainability, environmental management, or a related field.
Proven track record of developing and leading sustainability programs.
Experience with environmental compliance and risk management.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and metrics.
Leadership abilities with experience in managing and motivating teams.
Knowledge of sustainability standards and best practices.
Professional certification in sustainability or environmental management is a plus (e.g., LEED, ISO 14001, Certified Sustainability Professional).
