Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior ESG Deal Advisory Professional with expertise in the infrastructure investment and renewable energy sectors, with a strong understanding on the dynamics of project financing, PPP projects and development of renewable energy portfolios.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of capital markets for infrastructure transactions and be proficient in conducting ESG due diligence to assess the sustainability performance of target companies during acquisitions, buyside/sale-side, refinancing or lenders processes. This role requires the ability to identify red flags and areas for improvement for equity/debt investors and key players in a range of infrastructure markets.

4-10 years of relevant experience in ESG and EHS due diligence and experience or interest in developing experience in sustainability disciplines (ESG) as a deal/transaction consultant.
Master’s degree in environmental engineering, Environmental and Social Management or other relevant disciplines.
A specialization in energy or civil engineering or experience in the sustainability/carbon sector would be considered a plus, but not a requirement.
Working knowledge of English and Spanish (C1) is required.
Knowledge of other languages will be considered as a plus (preferred Portuguese/French).
Experience in private markets is preferred but not required.
The candidate must have experience in the following areas:
Industry Expertise:
o In-depth knowledge of the infrastructure and energy sectors, including transportation, social services, water, waste, communications, industrial assets, photovoltaic, wind (onshore/offshore), biofuels, biomethane, hydrogen, and energy storage.
o Understanding of various industry regulations and the ability to analyze corporate structures for effective management and operations.
ESG Evaluation:
o Perform due diligence exercises on environmental, social, governance (ESG) and health and safety (HS) issues to help companies identify material ESG, HS and reputational risks and impacts and sustainable development opportunities to support mergers and acquisitions.
o As part of these due diligence exercises, evaluate the ESG performance of projects against European and international standards such as the EU Taxonomy, the Sustainable Finance Directive Regulation, Equator Principles, and IFC Performance Standards. Provide expert advice on strategic ESG issues, leveraging a global pool of subject matter experts. Good knowledge of EU ESG legislation is key.
The candidate must have experience in the following activities:
Reporting and Analysis:
o Prepare high-quality, reader-oriented, and clear reports and presentations to meet client needs.
o Understand how ESG due diligence findings are used by clients and coordinate with other advisory teams.
Project Management:
o Lead and coordinate ESG workstreams in large, global projects, ensuring client satisfaction and profitable outcomes.
o Identify and manage commercial and operational risks from project conception to delivery.
Client Relations
o Actively engage with clients to discuss new opportunities.
o Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on customer satisfaction.
o Collaborate with external advisory teams, including financial, legal, and insurance advisors.
Market Insight:
o Stay informed about infrastructure and energy market trends and client needs.
o Translate complex technical topics into actionable commercial insights and identify value creation opportunities.
Additional Responsibilities:
o Post-transaction engagements providing specific ESG advisory or consultancy services based on gaps identified within the due diligence phase of a Project.
o Support project managers with research, report writing, proposal preparation, and delivering various project tasks.
