Our Client, independent consulting firm specializing in finance, risk, and strategy, are seeking a Manager for Risk Management & ESG based in Madrid to join their team.
Key Requirements:
Minimum of 6 years of experience in banking/financial services, with at least 2 years focused on climate risk & sustainability, specifically in financial ESG topics.
Strong quantitative background with analytical skills and a demonstrated interest in quantitative topics.
Previous involvement in ESG projects, including integration into strategy, risk management, credit processes, and regulatory disclosures.
Understanding of current regulatory requirements related to ESG, such as ECB Guide on Climate and Environmental Risk, EU-Taxonomy, NFRD/CSRD, EBA guideline on Pillar 3 reporting (Green Asset Ratio), and familiarity with frameworks like TCFD, ISSB, and Sustainable Finance.
Proficiency in Excel is essential, and familiarity with R and Python is advantageous, along with knowledge of their applications in the work environment.
Strong communication skills with the ability to write professional reports and collaborate effectively within a team.
Ability to work independently and quickly familiarize oneself with new topics.
Fluency in English and Spanish is required; proficiency in German and Portuguese is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead efforts to integrate ESG considerations into overall bank strategy and risk management practices.
Incorporate ESG factors into credit processes and client engagement strategies, ensuring alignment with sustainability goals.
Conduct climate risk stress testing and develop methodologies for assessing and managing climate-related risks.
Calculate emissions using tools like PACTA and develop decarbonization targets aligned with SBTi/PACTA frameworks.
Stay updated on regulatory requirements related to ESG and ensure compliance with relevant guidelines such as Pillar 3 reporting and non-financial disclosures.
Utilize quantitative skills to analyze ESG data and provide insights to clients on sustainability-related issues.
Work closely with colleagues to develop and implement ESG strategies and solutions, fostering a collaborative working environment.
Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in ESG, sharing knowledge internally and contributing to thought leadership initiatives.
