Role
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent team working organisational and communication skills who can contribute to delivering interesting, complex and challenging assignments.
You will be working in a dynamic environment and will be expected to show initiative, take responsibility for work assigned to you, and show resourcefulness in analysis and problem solving.
Your role will be to quickly understand the assets and highlight any critical ESG/H&S risks /opportunities. The job will involve understanding the ESG/H&S/regulatory elements and articulating their impact to a potential investor. Our aim is to provide training and opportunities across the ESG/H&S/regulatory services that we offer.
Responsibilities:
Contribute to ESG/H&S due diligence and collaborate closely with specialists to understand the key risks.
Be responsible for reviewing asset data including technical reports, performance data, management systems, strategies to understand key risks and potential opportunities. Collaborating closely with technical/commercial specialists to reduce the impact of risks.
Opportunities to project manage, co-ordinate and produce discrete sections of ESG due diligence reports.
Contribute to business development – contributing to proposals, keeping abreast of potential opportunities.
Promote knowledge across the wider Arup ESG community.
Minimum requirements
Minimum 2+ years of experience in environmental, ESG or related consultancy or transaction advisory services.
Working knowledge of English and Spanish (C1) is required.
Knowledge/experience of any of the following areas is beneficial. We are not expecting experience of all the points listed:
ESG/environmental due diligence/consultancy:
Environmental management systems, e.g., ISO 14001.
Greenhouse gas emissions reporting/reduction/decarbonisation; Sustainability reporting.
Technical knowledge of some/all ESG topics.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and schemes, for example:
EU Taxonomy and Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR).
Taskforce for Climate Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD).
Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).
IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards.
Health and safety:
Knowledge of key H&S Legislation and role of the HSE in the EU.
Awareness of what ‘good’ looks like relating to health and safety.
Due diligence – direct experience of buy side and/or vendor side ESG and/or H&S due diligence:
An understanding of the economic, commercial, and regulatory issues and drivers of the ESG sector.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills: ability to interpret and convey complex technical issues in simple form.
Excellent time management skills – of ten can be working on up to 3 or 4 projects at one time. The ability to be able to prioritise tasks across projects and manage time is important.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Office applications is a requirement.
Enthusiasm to develop technical and commercial knowledge would be advantageous.
Excellent English and Spanish skills are essential (written and spoken). Fluency in other languages can also be desirable.
Ability to deliver projects on time and be delivery focused.
Willingness to attend industry events and network.
Willingness to travel (short term business travel, mainly Europe and sometimes wider global).
