We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ESG Manager to join our client’s team. As they gear up for the implementation of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) of the European Union in 2025, this role is instrumental in ensuring their compliance with the sustainability reporting framework. You will be designing and implementing strategies that address the unique environmental, social, and governance challenges and ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations, minimizing the environmental impact of operations, and promoting responsible business practices.

Role & Responsibilities:
CSRD Compliance Preparation: Lead the efforts to prepare the group for compliance with the CSRD framework, ensuring that company aligns its ESG group reporting with the group financial statements reporting package timelines for the full year 2025.
Non-Financial KPI Reporting: Drive and oversee the reporting of various non-financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting, waste management, water consumption, and safety KPIs. Collaborate closely with subsidiaries in various countries and external service providers to ensure accurate and comprehensive reporting.
CSRD Report Development: Play a key role in content creation for the CSRD report, including the drafting of textual disclosures, disclosures on performance metrics and targets, and disclosures on policies. Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to gain their buy-in and approval for the report’s content.
Enhanced Reporting Process: Assist in developing a robust reporting process designed to achieve higher assurance levels for external auditors on sustainability reporting. Ensure that reporting processes are efficient and compliant with industry standards.
CSRD Monitoring and Networking: Stay closely attuned to evolving CSRD disclosure requirements and maintain networks with peers in the industry to share interpretations and best practices. Keep the organization informed about changes in ESG regulations and reporting standards.
Environmental Stewardship: Develop and implement environmental sustainability initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of refining and distribution operations. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
Social Responsibility: Implement social responsibility programs that enhance the well-being of local communities impacted by operations. Engage with communities to address social concerns and build positive relationships.
Health and Safety: Collaborate with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) teams to enhance workplace safety and mitigate risks associated with activities. Implement and monitor health and safety programs.
Supply Chain Governance: Assist in developing and enforcing governance practices in the supply chain to ensure ethical sourcing and responsible business conduct. Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance their ESG performance.
Reporting and Disclosure: Oversee the preparation and publication of ESG reports. Ensure alignment with industry-specific reporting frameworks and standards.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of industry regulations and ensure the company’s compliance. Advocate for regulatory changes that align with best ESG practices.
Profile:
Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Environmental Science, potentially supplemented with a postgraduate degree (preferred RC/RA or equivalent).
Work Experience: Possess over 5 years of experience in reporting with extensive knowledge in external reporting and compliance. Ideally, the candidate should have more than 3 years of experience in a multinational matrix organization, particularly in reporting. Proficiency in:
GRI and/or CSRD reporting.
GHG accounting and safety reporting.
Basic understanding of internal controls and external assurance.
Functional Skills: Demonstrated experience with reporting systems and proficiency in MS Office applications.
Languages: Fluent in English.
Stakeholder Management: Proven experience in managing relationships with internal stakeholders and management, with the ability to drive collaboration, shape strategies, connect teams, and deliver results. Possess the capacity to translate complex information into actionable guidance.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to assess and address ESG risks and opportunities in the downstream operations.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to convey complex ESG concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Collaboration and Leadership: Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide leadership in driving ESG initiatives.
Innovative Thinking: Innovative thinking to develop and implement sustainable solutions specific to downstream oil and gas challenges.
