09The Role: Associate, Sustainability Analyst
The Team: We are currently looking for an Associate, Sustainability Analyst to join S&P Global’s growing, dynamic Sustainability Research department within the Energy or Utilities sector team. The Sustainability Research department is overseeing the project management and methodology of the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) and the creation of the iconic Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) and other indices such as the S&P 500® ESG index. The team is responsible for managing our proprietary database, comprising one of the world’s most complete datasets on corporate sustainability. The data stored here is also used by investors, asset managers and in S&P Global’s various divisions and products.
The Impact: We are searching for people that are passionate about sustainability and would like to join a project-focused, international team of like-minded people, driven to deliver excellence in managing the worlds’ most known family of sustainability indices and one of the leading corporate sustainability benchmarking methodologies. Our department is project-focused and relies on our proprietary methodology and software to collect and assess corporate sustainability information.
As an Associate, Sustainability Analyst , you will be analyzing corporate performance within the Energy or Utilities Sector and engaging with the market to explain the results of our analysis. The role provides an opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of the methodology of the CSA ensuring that it continues to capture ongoing sustainability trends and continuously evolving regulatory and reporting frameworks. You will have the opportunity to act as a thought leader in sustainability, representing S&P Global’s sustainability expertise internally within the organization as well as through engagement with a variety of external parties.
Responsibilities:
Responsibility for analyzing and reviewing corporate performance in line with the CSA methodology within the Energy or Utilities sector.
Act as the knowledge leader within industry as well as specific underlying sustainability topics.
Development and maintenance of S&P’s proprietary Corporate Sustainability Assessment Methodology (CSA).
Monitoring and reviewing ongoing company controversies through Media & Stakeholder Analysis (MSA).
Research on upcoming global sustainability trends and industry-specific challenges.
Engagement with companies participating in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment through feedback calls and management meetings.
Project coordination with key internal and external stakeholders.
Your Qualifications:
A completed master’s degree, ideally with some specialized courses related to corporate responsibility, sustainable development, responsible investing, environmental management, etc preferred.
2-4 years of work experience in the field of sustainability ratings or research, corporate sustainability or sustainability investing related to the Energy or Utilities sector.
A sound understanding of global sustainability reporting frameworks and trends.
Strong analytical skills with an acute attention to detail
Excellent Excel skills and ability to work with complex data
Excellent spoken and written English skills
