We are seeking a Global Sustainability Executive for a prominent company in the Pharma Industry based in Rhine-Main area, Germany. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives, ensuring robust ESG governance, and leading the integration of non-financial reporting requirements.
This role will directly report to the CEO.

Responsibilities & Role:
Lead and manage the definition of a comprehensive Sustainability Strategy until 2030, including setting mid- and long-term targets across all functions/workstreams (ESG topic areas, products, business segments, and affiliates), and associated programs/initiatives for the next 3-5 years, in coordination with functional ESG workstream owners.Ensure robust ESG governance structures, including regular reporting to the company’s leadership teams and stakeholders.Maintain close coordination with ESG workstream owners, providing regular updates on key developments within each workstream.Lead and manage the integration of upcoming non-financial reporting requirements, including compliance with EU Taxonomy and EU CSRD, and oversee the necessary operational processes and programs.Manage all external ESG communication, including regular ESG reporting to stakeholders and addressing ESG investor requests from the Investor Relations team. This includes annual sustainability reporting and general sustainability communication through the company’s internet and intranet channels.Support business segments in defining and driving their ESG agenda, tailoring approaches for each segment within the Pharma Industry.Initiate and oversee sustainability programs at the country level, assisting affiliates in defining their sustainability agendas and programs. This role also involves regular internal communication and updates with key affiliates.Track, analyze, and report changes in ESG expectations from stakeholders, regulators, and overall industry trends. Understanding changes in the Pharma business landscape and tender processes is crucial.Supervise employees or volunteers working on sustainability projects.Develop methodologies to assess the viability and success of sustainability initiatives, including monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of sustainability programs.Develop or oversee the development of marketing and outreach media for sustainability projects or events.Identify educational, training, or other development opportunities for sustainability employees or volunteers.
Requirements & Profile:
Education: Business degree/diploma from College or University.Language: Fluent in English.Relevant Experiences: Minimum of 20 years of international work experience in the pharma industry, with extensive practice in sustainability.Possession of a strong understanding of the specific challenges in the Life Sciences industry in a heavily regulated environment and experience engaging diverse, multicultural teams.Additionally, a proven track record of working with C-suite and executive leaders.Strong leader with a focus on execution.Absolute hands-on mentality and approach.Self-directed individual with a strong independent problem-solving approach.Well-developed analytical, conceptual, and communication skills.Customer-oriented behavior with a highly dedicated commitment and a high sense of flexibility.Well-grounded understanding of pharmaceutical processes, combined with a solution-oriented attitude.Willingness to travel.
