About the Role:
The Sustainability and Corporate Affairs function is responsible for driving sustainable strategic planning at enterprise level. The team explores a range of strategic sustainability options, identifies sustainability priorities that optimise stakeholder value in the near and long term and translates this into a comprehensive implementation plan.
The role will report directly to the Head of ESG Strategy to support the development, communication, monitoring and implementation of AIB’s Sustainability Strategy. The role will also include undertaking an assessment of the wider ESG business environment; research and deliver analysis of key sustainability issues; and working closely with other business units to embed sustainability practices into business-as-usual activities. The successful candidate will also work closely with the Group Strategy function in driving strategic planning at enterprise level and support the annual Strategy planning process.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Manage and co-ordinate the delivery of a range of projects in support of the Sustainability Strategy across the Environmental, Social and Governance pillars.
Track and report on project progress against implementation plans.
Undertake ESG research, analysis, and other activity across a wide range of topics as required to support strategy formulation and implementation. Maintain regular, relevant information flows to support the ESG Strategy team consideration of strategic priorities.
Provide guidance and training to Group functions and Division teams on sustainability strategy requirements.
Co-ordinate compilation of regular submissions to Exco and Group Board, as required.
Be up to date with and understand industry and competitor information (both traditional and non-traditional disruptors), consumer behaviour and business opportunities.
Understanding of the regulatory environment that the Bank operate.
Embed and maintain a consistent framework for shareholder/stakeholder engagement on AIB Strategy.
Maintain frequent interactions and be heavily invested in a broad range of stakeholders.
Effectively align the interests of multiple and diverse stakeholders.
Promote a sustainability culture across the company.
What you will bring:
Highly motivated self-starter with minimum 5 years relevant industry, business, and strategy experience (intersection with financial services or management consulting strongly preferred).
Experience in the development and execution of impactful sustainability/decarbonisation strategies, as well as work experience in the practical application of GHG accounting methodologies, application of leading ESG reporting frameworks and familiarity with ESG-linked financing structures and international guidelines.
Strong research and analytical skills, with related ability to clearly articulate proposals.
A strong team-player mindset, coupled with the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.
Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
