Banking in transition: A chat with Andrea Orcel, UniCredit Group CEO.

Andrea Orcel was appointed group chief executive officer of UniCredit in April 2021. Previously Orcel was at UBS where he served as a member of the board of UBS Americas, senior contact for U.S. industry regulators and senior officer outside of Australia and senior contact for Australia industry regulators. He also served as president for the investment bank; then chief executive of UBS Limited and UBS AG London Branch.
Earlier, Orcel worked for Merrill Lynch (then Bank of America), with a number of senior positions, including executive chairman of the investment bank and president of emerging markets ex Asia, president of international global banking, securities & wealth management, and head of international corporate and investment banking.
Orcel began his career in 1987 at Midland Montagu in fixed income. In 1988 he moved to Goldman Sachs and in 1990 he joined The Boston Consulting Group.
